The island of Skiathos
Skiathos is one of the greenest islands in Greece, known for its pine-covered hills and more than 60 sandy beaches along a 44-kilometre coastline. From famous spots like Koukounaries Beach and the white cliffs of Lalaria to dozens of quiet coves only locals know, the island offers incredible variety within a compact, easy-to-explore setting.
The island stays more relaxed and authentic than the big tourist hotspots. Skiathos Town blends small stone alleys, a lively harbour and traditional tavernas, while much of the island’s interior remains untouched and peaceful.
Skiathos also has a touch of Hollywood magic: several scenes of the musical film Mamma Mia! were shot here and on the neighbouring island of Skopelos.
